It is not an original part of the WH. There is a historical commission that must approve all changes to the WH.
Lastly, this is 100% privately funded and will be donated. No tax payer is being hurt in this operation.
And because you have TDS, you must make this a major issue. Bigger than the democratic party government shutdown.
Yep.
If you really gave a rat's ass about things like this then you should be seriously outraged over the multi BILLION dollar taxpayer funded remodeling of the Federal Reserve Headquarters. But you're not. Your outrage here is totally phony. Just seeking attention you are ...
No one gives a f#vk about the Federal Reserve headquarters or renovation. People don't like the proposed size of the ballroom—larger than the White House—and the strong suggestions that the donations are pay-to-play. It's also obnoxious that Trump promised there would be no demolition but boom dey it is.
And no, Trump did not get prior approval from (or even consult) the government body overseeing such projects. So it's also a symbol of Trump's contempt for rules and protocol and his willingness to use his office for more grifting and making money.
If Biden had done this, we never would have heard the end of The Biden Crime Family from you.
Heâs moving ahead with construction despite the lack of sign-off from the National Capital Planning Commission, the executive branch agency that has jurisdiction over construction and major renovations to government buildings in the region.
The East Wing isn't the original building, true, but it's on the White House grounds and was designed to complement the White House's design. This ballroom (Karoline Leavitt says it'll seat 650, Trump says 999) is going to look hulking and ridiculous.
"Theodore Roosevelt added the West Wing to provide dedicated space for the president and key staff, while Franklin D. Roosevelt added the East Wing, which over time became the home base for the first ladyâs staff and social functions."
...
The president and his chief spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, said over the summer that the White House itself would remain intact as the ballroom was going up.
âItâll be near it but not touching it,â Trump said. âNothing will be torn down,â Leavitt added.
That turned out not to be the case.
As for funding, it's not clear who'd donating or how much. Trump has apparently promised to pay for some of the work himself but he lies ALL THE TIME.
"I view this enormous ballroom as an ethics nightmare," Richard Painter, a former chief ethics lawyer in the Bush White House between 2005 and 2007, told the BBC.
"It's using access to the White House to raise money. I don't like it," he added. "These corporations all want something from the government."
A dinner for potential donors held at the White House on 15 October included senior executives from prominent US companies including Blackstone, OpenAI, Microsoft, Coinbase, Palantir, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Amazon and Google.
Also present was Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets NFL team, and Shari and Edward Glazer, who, together with their siblings, own both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Manchester United.
A pledge form seen by CBS News, the BBC's US partner, suggested that donors could be eligible for "recognition" for their contributions. While plans are still being finalised, that recognition could potentially take the form of names etched into the structure.
The White House had originally said that the gigantic structure would have a seated capacity of 650 people. This week, Trump said that it will be able to hold 999.

Maybe I'm out of the loop but what food related policies have been instituted to make us healthy (again)? I hear plenty about the vaccines and the Tylenol declaration of danger.
A complex and thorough discussion of the legalities behind Trumpâs pathetic flail (via Lindsey Halligan)

FTA:
In advance of todayâs motions, Halligan went on the attack against Comey lawyer, Pat Fitzgerald. She wants him out of the case. Sheâs smart to be afraid of him, because in the battle between prosecutor and defense lawyer, she is clearly outmatched.
â¦
There are pitfalls everywhere for the unwary in criminal cases. Attorneys are like doctors. You probably wouldnât see an obstetrician for brain surgery. An insurance lawyer may not be qualified to be a prosecutor. And in either setting, not sticking to your area of expertise can have fatal consequences, with doctors to the patients, with lawyers, to their cases. Lindsey Halligan is no Pat Fitzgerald. The attempt to besmirch his reputation was a cheap shot, and one that will undoubtedly misfire.
When someone incompetent hires someone incompetent, the results areâ¦incompetence. This is fascinating.

Lindsey Halliganâthe top prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginiaâwas texting me. As it turned out, she was texting me about a criminal case she is pursuing against one of the presidentâs perceived political enemies: New York Attorney General Letitia James.
So began my two-day text correspondence with the woman President Donald Trump had installed, in no small part, to bring the very prosecution she was now discussing with me by text message.
Over the next 33 hours, Halligan texted me again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
Through the whole of our correspondence, however, there is something Halligan never said: She never said a word suggesting that she was not âon the record.â
Since no one is really discussing this other than by virtue signaling and using memes, the fact is that a simple CR has been passed in the House to keep the lights on and continue regular funding. The problem is in the Senate where Schumer is refusing to do anything unless he gets more than just keeping the lights on.
The democrats want to add legislation to the CR rather than try and pass the legislation they want in the normal course of business. That is the problem.
OH LOOK! A SQUIRREL!!!
Idahoans just received their renewal notices for 2026 insurance coverage and they are shocked that costs are increasing nearly 200%. One Family on ACA subsidies had premiums of $120; they received notices their premiums will increase to $1,600.
What about those farmers upset about Trump's ongoing building of a $umpteen billion Ballroom and $20 Million to Argentina waiting on his promised bailout?
Do present a narrative that doesn't go off topic. We are taking bets you can't before pointing to 'what abouts.'
If Trump was king, the government would be open. .
Well, he’s already president, and the Congress is Republican, and the majority of the SCOTUS are spineless or grifters. So let’s blame the Democrats? No one really believes that stuff.
He’s the dog that chased the car and now what does he do while he’s caught it? He doesn’t know because he’s senile.

If he were truly King, he'd fire everyone but his friends and family... and take every dollar he could until the uprising, where he'd pay his friends in Saudi Arabia or Russia to "put him up".
