I bumped into himâliterallyâa few years ago. I was standing in the museum over in Cody looking at a painting and felt someone's presence behind me but I knew a docent was leading someone thru the gallery so I said screw it, I ain't moving 'til I'm done looking. Then the docent said something about the painting and that voice responded with a couple of words and I reflexively took a step back, right into him. He just gave me a smirk, like "I get that a lot."

Gosh, 95; I didn't realize he was that old. Oddly enough, since Bud Cort's announcement appears beneath his in this thread, the two of them had worked together in the film version of M*A*S*H.

He frequently told me I needed a haircut. He also took me fishing and let me in the garage while he fixed things and played with his crazy oddball band tube radio (that I still have).

My grandpa used to do security there part time. He worked a lot of rock shows. He told me that "some of these guys are pretty good, but they could all use a haircut". He was tough, but actually a pretty cool/tolerant guy. I bet he gave you a little shit, but let you keep your weed. He probably also told you to get a haircut.
This makes me sad. When I was 18 in 1971 TDN was huge & I was a big fan. I saw them two years in a row at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas (Rod Stewart & Faces opened the first show, Buddy Miles the second one). They put on great shows & Chuck was a hella performer. Thanks for the memories, RIP. ð¢ðâ®ï¸

Leaving was his choice and his action.... death with dignity is legal in Washington..... I just know, in my heart, that Cathy was waiting for him.
He was suffering, sick, and in pain. It was a blessing.
My friends, for over 30 years, are together in the stars....
