I miss the old modification of my Apple Performa trash can that sang this song when I emptied it.
BTW - this is a horribly sad song IMO. "A gift from my mother, before I was born. I love it because it's trash." There's something really sentimental in that: it's trash, but it's from his mom. So it's dear to him. What a great idea.
It may have been all she had to give him, which is rather sad. But, on the other hand, Oscar is teaching us to look deeper to see the value in things.

I'm not sure I have the energy to develop an appreciation of Bitches Brew. A friend was playing it for me while we were tasting some unaged jet fuel that he brought back from Zimbabwe and various other spirits. I might have developed a bad association.
It's the jet fuel, for sure. Although it's not my first time listening to BB, I was sipping on some Oban14. I saw colours I've never seen before.
My love for jazz has been somewhat awakened lately.

Thanks for reminding me of Rachel. A few years ago someone posted a vid of her playing Keith's Moog and it was love at first listen. Just plain blown away. I'm gonna have to get this CD. This is close you eyes and smile stuff, no pun intended at all.
1) She's amazing. This album of hers has the same warm, complex feel of the first Lyle Mays album, which I adore. 2) Her mother is to thank for nurturing and supporting her talent 3) I keep waiting for that period that we all go through where we say "I don't have to do what you say!" and she refuses to play ELP etc for people
