The Democratic National Committee is drastically revising its criteria to participate in primary debates after New Hampshire, doubling the polling threshold and eliminating the individual donor requirement, which could pave the way for former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg to make the stage beginning in mid-February.

Which is no doubt what they want and we all gave them a hard time for obviously screwing Sanders last go around, but in all fairness they are doing their job by insuring to the best of their ability to produce a candidate with a chance in the general and Sanders and Warren do not meet this criteria.  They just have to be careful not to do so to the point of corrupting and denying the party faithful's vote.  Man, I tell ya all of the issues we have could be solved by the destruction of the 2 party duopoly.  Are we getting to the breaking point with this, yet?

Ambush journalism.   Not cool.

It is curious to think that Michael Moore foretold the election of Donald Trump.   Once upon a time, all sectors of the American economy were 'dynamic' and adjusted quickly to shock (technology, consumer tastes, etc.).  Moore represented those who did not want to or could not adjust.   It made him money and it made him famous.  Trump took it another step further.

She's from my state and is a total fraud. Never shows up for important state business that effects us small people then claims she's one of us.

She's more interested in selling her books and growing her $ millions. Only shows up and does photo shoots to make herself look good.

I call her Bobble Headed Betty. Talks so soft I got to get  a hearing aid set to full just to hear what's she's not saying. {#Yes}

She's just like the rest of the inbred politicians in this country.

Swore I would never get into politics here ever again but I had to state my feelings.

SORRY! I feel much better now. {#Lol}

You have an excellent point, Scott, and I wasn't very enthusiastic when I read about Biden's complaints during the run-up to 2016 that Hillary was getting all the consideration and donations. I thought he was too old and perhaps not smart enough to be president.

And then we got hit with Trump, and my estimation of the average American voter went way, way downhill. I respect people from all walks of life and I think that for the most part, they're too busy with life to seriously dig into politics and elections. The average voter doesn't have time to focus on different positions and policies, so s/he latches onto soundbites. But Trump's election showed me that a hardcore group went for him at the gut level, much as I think Obama's hardcore supporters did with him. For some—perhaps many—voters, choosing Trump or Obama was a tribal, emotional action. The same with Bernie and Ron Reagan for that matter. My concern is that the visceral instinct is going to make presidential candidates from here on out. The smart choice may not necessarily be the winning one.

It's easy to understand Joe Biden. He's a career politician but he comes across as normal and straightforward and solid as a hamburger. Elizabeth Warren is likely smarter but I don't know if she resonates with as many voters as Biden does. I don't think she's a natural politician. She wins out by being smart, passionate in her convictions and honest. Given the choice between Biden and Warren, I'd choose the latter but I wonder whether Biden would draw more voters. I also think that Biden comes across more naturally as the anti-Trump. You have the arrogant blowhard on hand and on the other the average guy saying, "Ah shut the hell up. You're a gasbag and a clown!"

We'll see. Bernie was a big surprise to me as was Trump, so 2020 may be just as shocking. I get the feeling that Democratic voters may want someone new, so that could very well work in Warren's favor.

I think she'd make a great president if she learns how to negotiate, bargain and reach compromises in Congress. She may be too unyielding in her principles. The financial industry would fight her tooth and nail.

On a personal level, I wonder whether Joe Biden might resonate more with older and more middle-of-the-road voters. He would make a great counter to Trump's bloated ego and attempts to be in touch with the common man.

We'll see how it goes. If the economy is still humming in November 2020, it'll be hard to beat Trump. You also have to wonder whether people will get tired of Trump's unending crises, hissy fits and regular proclamations that he's innocent, completely innocent.
