Sooo sorry I'm this late. I blame the liquor. And...life. I'm trying to catch up this weekend, but my youngest's inlaws just arrived for a week so...well, I'll do my best.

At first i was excited about making this theme. But it turned out to be a bit of a chore to find songs. Although there are some great tunes here, overall it's just what i would regard as adequate. I tried to put the songs in chronological order (so to speak) but kind of gave up by the time i hit song #14. I'm sure you all understood why i wanted you to first listen to the CD before looking at the song list, because...well...i really wasn't kidding when i said Just Kidding.
And didn't anyone notice who made those cards?
First: If I grasped the theme properly...congratulations!
And welcome to the club. This is a strong start, and I'm glad you're contributing.
And...is that a Manbird original?

Standouts:
Vigilantes of Love tune is growing on me with repeated listens. Feels...sincere.
Thanks for the introduction to Crunchy. A great match to the theme and catchy.
John Lennon's best song! That's cheatin'. Which I approve of.
Guardian is another new one to me. Nice blend of instruments, and sweet lyrics.
As the father and grandfather of willful daughters I appreciate The Choir song. Gets me right...there.
Neal Morse—ok, I'm choked up now.
The Stephen Wilson Jr. song is exactly the kind of shmaltzy country song I miss on country radio these days. A throwback to a better era.
Haven't heard from Edie Brickell in forever, and this was a pleasant reminder.
Todd Snider was a great storyteller. A moment of silence.
Not as familiar as I should be with Over the Rhine. Thanks for the reminder!
Scott Stapp—could have sworn this was Everclear. So I looked him up and...hoo boy, guy's a train wreck. I hope for his kids' sake he pulls his head out.
Shinedown song confused me a bit, hope the story arc here turns out ok.
All in all this was a fine disc, found some musicians to check out and learned a few things. Great start!
First off, Welcome back to the fold. Obviously its been awhile since listening to one of your mixes but your style became obvious fairly soon into the mix. So you're in the Boondocks now? For some reason I thought you already were there, just a different state. When old friends and family visit my new place up here in New Hampshire they always say "Man you live out in the Boonies" so I guess I can relate a bit. Anyhoo, onto my thoughts on the tuneage!
Disc 1
Country Trash - I was recently in Nashville and went to the Johnny Cash Museum. It was FANTASTIC! I learned a lot about the man that I didn't know before. I don't recall hearing this tune by him so something new is a nice way to kickoff the mix.
Chicken Pie - Crank up the still Jethro we're having a Ho-Down!
The Cat Song - 1st appearance of Laura Nyro in the RPMCC? Maybe before my time in the club as I don't recall. Favorite on the disc so far.
Road - enjoying the slide work on this one.
Pearly Gate Music - This one sounds newer than the others but fits right in.
Way Down the Old Plank Road - Nice raw version of a classic.
Automatic - sudden change of style here, not so bad though
Any Old Road - Finger Pickin Good! Was this a TV show theme once? Oddly familiar in that way.
Horse Feathers - Has a Jason Isbell vibe, sort of like an old demo tape he once did.
Bonnie Prince Billy - I'll bet this guy is good live. Funny I think that Bonnie Prince Charlie would make a good band name.
Degenerate - I like everything about this song. He was on another mix recently.
How Many Horses - Sounds like something the Stones would have covered in the Mick Taylor era.
Slug - I know you like your rap but this didn't fit the mix at all.
Country Boy - Back to our regularly scheduled program....maybe. Good crank it up tune though!
Disc 2
Country Song - Sounded like something I would have recorded on my dad's cassette player when I was a kid
Hackberry Ramblers - like a lost 78 record, played with string and a flywheel
Gary Higgins - has a Tom Waits Mulish sound.
I Went Down to Georgia - evokes images of cowboys around the campfire drinking black coffee
Cate Le Bon - Really dig this one, cool voice, kinda like Sandy Denny. Favorite of Disc 2
Tom Cat - I thought it was one of the great bluesmen from the late 50's/early 60's and I was correct!
Going up the Country - if the the 1920's had a Woodstock this would have been the theme song.
Charlie Parr - a modern tribute to classic country music
Long Haired Mare - storytelling at it's finest.
Big Mama Thornton - good old fashioned blues that influenced many a female artist.
There were a lot of good selections on here that fit a cool theme. I've never been much for Country Music but I do enjoy the old style like you have on here more so than anything coming out of the Grand Ole Opry today. Appreciate the work you put into getting such a large collection together for us. Pretty good Re-Debut from an old Shotgun Shack!
I appreciate you taking the time to write such a review. And I am waaaay out in the boondocks now. Had to get agricultural zoning for all of our animals. Damn Karens.

Oh no!
If it doesn't arrive in the next week let me know and I will send out another to you. In the meantime no peeking!
Went ahead and deleted post. I am just going to send another one out in the next couple of days my printer is out of toner so it will be cds only. I do like for everyone to have listened before seeing songlist.
I got thru the mix last night and am reading to review. So post it back up when you can, I'm sure Lazy won't peek.
It's been a week and still no sign. Saw you went ahead, good call.

Alas no fishing, I was taken out by Events. They were ones I was helping organize, but they took me out none the less.
I think I can be ready for July. I have one I'm working on that I think will be well received; I have a couple done that wouldn't be, so I'm holding out for the one I'm building.
Keep us posted, I had something in mind for July but it's only in the imagination stage at this point.
Lazy8 missed his May slot, probably busy fishing or something. Do you want to slide into July?
