Two decades ago; I wouldn't meet BHD and Hobbitt in person for a couple of years after this was taken, but the idea that they invited total strangers (e-friends) to stay in their home and celebrate with them changed our trajectory. Thank you both.

BluEyes just told me about her passing. I haven't had much of a social media presence/interaction for a few years now. I did that for my own sanity, but now staying away and missing the interaction of so many great people leaves me empty...and hearing this news feels like a total kick in the gut.
I'm pretty sure the mindset of accepting literal strangers into their (BHD & Hobbit) lives set up a culture of hope and trust and initiated friendships that lead to my considering even trying to meet BluEyes face-to-face in the first place and eventually lead to our marriage. I treasure that and the visits we made to Druid Labs. I feel like I owe them more than I could ever repay, but a "Thank you!" is all I can generate at this time.
Same here. We visited a week after my sister died. We had met before, at Reinstock. Then after Jo Ann died, we threw a party here in Lexington. I think they were here then. They stayed ion one of the bedrooms upstairs. The next year, they returned for our wedding. The kids were here, so they go the use of their bedrooms.
A whole bunch of us stayed in the same place for your wedding. I canât remember the name of it for the life of me, but I know Iâve got a couple of pictures (maybe even a short video?) of us sitting in an outside seating area the night before (?) the wedding.
So many great memories.
While I was lucky enough to fly from the opposite corner of the country (when I was still in FL) up to Druid Labs in Pete Townsend, one of my fondest memories of BHD is her coming to stay with me a couple of nights when she was doing her âcross country tourâ in 2010. I had only been here for a couple of months at that point, but having her visit finally helped put my mind at peace after a tumultuous beginning in my new home state.
Cathy's birthday was only 10 days after mine, so we bonded in many, many ways. We met in person at the meetup in Lexington in 2007, and then on her epic road-trip in 2010 she visited here. In 2014 I visited her and Mike and then she came and stayed with me when I had my hand surgery in 2017. I had planned on visiting them again in my retirement ...

I was one of those strangers, invited to their home not to party on the new year, but to heal. BHD was like a motherly high priestess, believing in me when I didn't believe in myself. She was also brutally honest when that was needed and I will forever be grateful for her welcoming arms.
