As someone that considers himself to be a knowledgeable AV/HT enthusiast I would definitely not waste my money on this equipment.  Number one is the use of class D amp.  Expensive Class D amps are known to produce an inordinate amount of distortion so I can only imagine what you would get from this unit.  Plus these "all-in-one" systems are convenient but don't last and are of a far inferieor quality..

Any decent 2 channel receiver (Onkyo, Denon) combined with quality speakers is a far better choice.  Combined with a Squeezebox or Roku and you not only can get Internet radio but stream your music library to your system.

If what you want is a decent 2 channel system in the 500.00 range then I would try something like this

Onkyo TX-8255 2 channel receiver - 195.00

BIC America DV62si bookshelf speakers  110.00/pair  ( I have used these speakers in my secondary system and they are a fantastic deal and sound great)

Squeezebox - 257.00  best piece of auxiliary equipment I own.

or the Roku Soundbridge - 165.00

Total is 562.00 with the Squeezebox a tad bit more than that Pioneer ripoff or 470.00 with the Roku.  Either will provide far more listening pleasure with great sound quality and will last alot longer.
Would be happy to answer any questions on this or other related AV stuff.
If you are really intent on the Pioneer system you can get it HERE  for 390.00 w/free shipping.

All good recommendations.

I'd also encourage people to play with any of the multitude of cheapo media devices that can be found on ebay/craigslist. The D-Link Medialounge range has a bunch of devices that are really good and can be had for next to nothing if you hunt a bit. Tvisto works great on them as well as a number of other UPNP servers.

And don't forget you can get a $15 cable that will plug into your PC soundcard and feed an RCA input that can be found on almost any stereo device made in the last 20 years. clicky linky .

AV/HT can be as expensive as you let it be, but you can often find cheap solutions that satisfy your real needs if you just want to listen to good music.

I'd have to disagree. If it's already integrated into something you want then bonus, but I don't see paying extra for it. I still prefer a solid amp w/ LOTS of places to plug sources in. There are a number of appliances that you can get that will do analog or digital output from an internet stream or library of music files. Just put that into the amp and you have the same thing with more flexibility and probably better overall quality. An assembly of the best individual components will almost always be better than an integrated widget that does everything under the sun.

Heck you can get a nice sound card for less than 1/4 of that price and just run a cable. S/PDIF coax will do 30+ ft, and you can do TOSLINK if you want to go further/avoid interference.

Of course most people don't think that cables are pretty like I do.

I think obsolescence is ugly.

Anything "internet-ready" has some kind of interface to the 'net. Like an RJ-45 cable or a wifi link. Which will someday be obsolete, as will the protocols and sound files we listen to today. Imagine what "internet-ready" meant 15 years ago: WAV and MIDI files. Maybe it would seek out music files via GOPHER and FTP.

I listen to streaming audio thru a 25 year old amp that sounds as good as the day it was built and better than anything I could replace it with today. I never lose the remote because it doesn't have one. It has one job to do: stereophonic sound, and it does it very very well. I suppose RCA connectors could one day vanish, but they've had an awful lot of chances and haven't yet.

When I bought it I could have had one with a built-in cassette deck or cd player, but they would be old hat now. A few years earlier and it  could have had an 8-track slot in front. State of the art.

Fight feature creep! Don't make audio companies do something they'll suck at. Spend your money wisely and you won't have to spend it as often.

Sorry, no. But I run a Yamaha that sounds similar. Today it only makes sense to get a receiver that's Internet-ready.

Can you find it in your area? That link, when I put in a local zip code it says nothing found, and the online store doesn't show it either.
