I enjoy looking at the list as well. Sometimes it's like "what was I thinking" on both ends of the spectrum, but mostly it just reminds me of good stuff to put on my amazon shuffle list for when RP is not on deck.

When I first looked at my 'bad' list the other day I was surprised to see so many cover tunes, because I normally really like when people re-work an old song. But then I dug a little deeper, including playing the Corrs version of "Dreams". At first I thought, wow, this is pretty good - she has a really great voice. Then the synth drum track started and my head exploded.

The blank spots on your list are for songs that have been dropped from our library or — in some cases — that had duplicate entries. The blank spaces will go away with the next site revision (or you can use the list on our beta site, which already excludes them).

Songs on that list have always been ordered by the rating. Within each rating, previously the songs were in more-or-less random order. Now they're alphabetical, which seems to make more sense.

I don't see any issues with the date & time on comments. But if there are any, they'll be corrected.

Personal Lists "Rating Songs"

Hi dear BillG:

I thank you for your comment and clarification, I ask you to forgive me, but I still do not understand the essentials about "Personal Lists", as the name implies are "Personal". You will agree with me and you may have noticed that altering, modifying, manipulating the sequence, the way authors and songs are grouped together, in a way that is not only a bad idea, but interferes with each user's personal and intransmissible preferences, and adulterating its essence. It discharges the page of each user, in such a way that neither the own one no longer recognizes its own page. The options of each user must be well defined. To individualize. To differentiate.
In fact, Bill will also understand, because it is part of the organic of all web-sites, that the production of RP, Bill, or other administrative staff should be exempt from interfering within personal pages, because that represents the essence, +value of RP, even to guarantee the authenticity and personality of the users.
When this is not observed it can become a factor of promiscuity (intellectual, obviously) and swamp, where all are equal to all, flattened by an earthmoving machine, (step comparison). Not to mention the respect that every user deserves.
For now, in a brief analysis, I can tell you that I know almost all of the songs to the authors that have entered my page from the beginning. And the rating assigned to each.

Herbie Hancock - Stitched Up (w / John Mayer) - I never voted for this song.
Erik Satie - Gymnopedie No. 1 - i have voted, but is in duplicate.

By moving within the page of each user, we run a serious risk of brave failure, such as deleting items, or adding them and assigning ratings, unrelated to each user's orientation.

Dear Bill, I think you should have a backup of the RP website, and it is advisable that you please replace my Personal List of "Rated Songs" in the original form I created and designed.

As for the avatar do not worry, it is a thing of lesser importance, I have several, each suited to the moment. But if you dont like i can change, why not. You will understand that this is the one that fits the worrying and unstable momentum darkness  that is taking place in society, and which is inserted and reflected in the world of arts and music, obviously, and that I hope to soon be overtaken by new protagonists and new fresh and healthy ideas.

And Bill do not forget that you are for me a "spiritual guide" in the context of the music world, please, do not disappoint me.
Sincerely.

I'll check on any duplications or inaccuracies.  As for the changes to the list, they have always been ordered in a way that was designed and chosen by us. Your only input is the ratings you assign. Don't confuse something you became accustomed to with something you personally "created and designed".

For the reasons stated in my previous post, the lists can't be returned to the previous ordering. I hope you can adjust.

I looked at this earlier and it didn't make sense. Mine are all over the place. I have to go to the lowest rated to be more viewable, but you can see tori and the decemberists are pretty spread out there:

1 - The Decemberists - A Beginning Song
1 - Adam Lambert - Ring of Fire
1 - Gnarls Barkley - Gone Daddy Gone
1 - The Decemberists - We Both Go Down Together
1 - Placebo - Twenty Years
1 - Tori Amos - Upside Down
1 - Tori Amos - Space Dog
1 - Tori Amos - Strange Little Girl
1 - Tori Amos - Smells Like Teen Spirit
2 - The Decemberists - Till the Water Is All Long Gone
2 - Tori Amos - Trouble's Lament
2 - The Decemberists - The Wanting Comes in Waves/Repaid
2 - Tori Amos - Flavor
2 - A.K.A.C.O.D. - Hypnotised
2 - The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love 4 (The Drowned)
2 - Colin Meloy - We Both Go Down Together
2 - Dengue Fever - Seeing Hands
2 - Tori Amos - Bouncing Off Clouds
2 - The Decemberists - Summersong
2 - Anna Ternheim - China Girl
2 - Kathleen Edwards - Money Talks (Live)
2 - Bright Eyes - We Are Nowhere and It's Now
2 - Sun Kil Moon - Carry Me Ohio
2 - Beck - Nicotine & Gravy
2 - Lucinda Williams - Hot Blood
2 - Placebo - Every You, Every Me
2 - Momo Wandel Soumah - Félenko Yéfé
2 - Yat-Kha - Come Along
2 - Fleming & John - Delusions of Grandeur
2 - Sinéad O'Connor - Sacrifice
2 - Placebo - This Picture
2 - Corrs - Dreams
2 - Tori Amos - Caught A Lite Sneeze
2 - Tori Amos - Crucify
2 - Tori Amos - Cornflake Girl
2 - Tori Amos - Thank You

Hmmm.  Never really used the beta site much, so far.  Mostly because I still like to see the last four songs playing and the convenience of the buttons under the header for settings, logout and refresh this window, etc.  Now that this thing about the rating list has come up in this thread, its now like, meh ...  it was nice to see things rated in the order you rated them over the years.  Now with the new order of the list being the way it is I think that I would rather just see all the artists in alphabetical order and the various song ratings for each song rather than by rank then alphabetical order.  But it is what it is.

or ??

how about a column button to shift back and forth from # rank to plain alphabetical order with the rating attached to each song ?

Obviously it is RP's decision how to run things, and I am fine with purging song ratings when the songs are purged from the library. On the other hand I could see keeping the songs around in some sort of inactive status so they could show up in your PSD, even if Bill says, "What the heck was I thinking? If I hear this one more time my ears will start to bleed!"

Ah: I see too that the old "top rated" list is clumped sort of arbitrarily now. I prefer to rate songs organically, based on how I felt when I heard it on RP. It doesn't look alphabetical and it doesn't seem organic either. That list *used to be* in essentially the order that the song got rated. So I could see the first song I rated a 10, and the most recent. Or if someone had rated all Talking Heads songs a 1, and those songs all appeared together, I knew they'd gone thru and done a search and rated them all at the same time.
