As I got closer, a Japanese tourist put his baby on a bear's back while mommy stood alongside, posing for the photo. No harm done because a US Citizen With His Head Screwed On Straight ran up and snatched the baby away. They were quite put out that he'd ruined their photo op. When we were up there in June, I nearly took a pic of a moron taking a pic of a buffalo...at the time, he was about 6 feet away from the beastie. I've seen plenty of doofi (note: plural of doofus) moves up there, but that was just about the doofusest. Not 15 minutes later, we saw a group of folks standing right in front of about 4 bison (with their backs turned to the animals) taking pics of one another and yukking it up. It's a wonder the gorings don't happen more often, really.

Nowadaze the guy would probably get out his cam-corder and throw a burning stick at the bear and then sell the video to the news. (these are strange times we live in)

I wonder how put out they'd have been if the bear had had a taste for a little baby sushi.

We'll put minor offenders (such as the idjits who hold up 7-11 stores) into a pit with maddened oxen and the survivors get to go free... Maybe with some sort of door prize lottery for the viewers and then we can announce that the days of "bread and circuses" is back.
