The barb on a honeybee's stinger might not hook into the spider the way it does human skin. And I imagine it takes a lot of attempts before any bee gets a sting through or around the spider's armor. But a honey bee can also bite, which also carries a venom (I think it's different from their stinger-juice), so when in a full-on attack like that, they would probably use that more than a purely defensive sting.
