in the interest of science I went back to octoshape this morning and yeah it has a lot of hiccups for me. So 64kAAC+ will be fine. (For some reason I can't get the 128 AAC to play today. No big deal for me, tho.)

I listened to Octoshape 192 every day for a year or more, even tho it was often just with my computer's tinny built-in speakers. I had some notion that this saved RP some money, not sure about that but hey. Now iTunes plays the AAC flavors so I listen to that because I was under the impression that the octoshape stream was being phased out. Anyway: I didn't have any of these issues with Octoshape. Solid all day long.

I have never had any good sounds from Octoshape. it has always stuttered and been a pain in the rear to load and keep from dropping. This was my experience from its inception, and was duly noted at the time... which brought the wrath of Servo down upon me. Which itself puts me in good company
I dumped it right away and went with FStream and have been a happy camper ever since.

Suggestion to deal with the recent spam infestations: code in some kind of check box on posts from new users labeled "report this as spam". This could go away after the newbie's 30th post or whatever. You could filter so that only actual logged-in users get their reports counted, but if a spammer collects say 10 reports in a day his/her/its account gets locked.

I know this could be abused, but if the "newbie box" goes away after some level of trust is established I think that addresses it.

The Amazon and iTunes buttons below each album cover, on a song's comments page, are way too large in proportion to the rest of the imagery.

I think they look good to be honest, they stand out and say "hey why not go and buy this track you like/dislike so much".

I just tried using Octoshape again and its no longer getting buffer under-runs BUT it is "stuttering" once or twice per song. I've used Octoshape since its inception without problem but lately its been to wacked to use so back to 128/AAC for now.
