Another thing to note is that the Japanese do not consider Haiku (or Raiku, for that matter) to be a valid english poetry form - our language makes it too easy to manage the form. In Japanese (which I don't speak more than a few words and phrases) it's much harder because many simple words have three or more syllables. Poetry is joy! don't get your knickers twisted over language snobs

Haiku = 3 lines 5 - 7 - 5 syllables with a mention of season Raiku is the same form but. no seasonal mention is necessary.
