I've since switched to drinking lemon water (from my own lemon trees) and every morning lemon water with ACV with mother and MCT oil. Except for my morning coffee I don't ever drink anything else except an occasional 1 glass of red wine or more rarely now a beer. I was on the Keto diet for 3.5 months to lower my hA1C and fasting glucose and now on the Mediterranean diet and have gotten tasting numbers from 110 ish to 93 ish and hope to knock it down further wit h time/
I've long known about lemon juice water's detox benefits. The wife turned me on to that. Did it off and on over the years. Known about ACV, but yuch.
MCT oil is new to me, though. This looks very interesting. My diet has changed drastically since getting dentures. It is now more for sustenance than pleasure. It is more a hassle than a pleasure anymore. There are some days I just don't eat and do not even get hungry. Just black coffee all day long, trying to remember to drink some water along the way. Harkens back to the days of week long chemo and not eating for days in a row, just IV saline. I see the need for cannabis for appetite stimulation now, but even that does not always make me hungry anymore. My glucose goes from 100ish to 150ish and I often binge on chocolate and cinnamon rolls too much these days. No alcohol of any kind, not for years now. Not for any reason just don't like it like I used to.
We started taking Balance of Nature about 4 months ago just to keep vital ingredients in my diet. Looked at it for years and finally decided to give it a try. There is only so much money available to add to the monthly nut. This is worth it. It is a permanent item now. Noticed a big benefit rather quickly. More energy and even better breathing.

Correct. Just the recipe I posted. Tried and true for nearly 20 years now.
Among other clues that it is time for a flush for me, is a numb feeling at the bottom of my back in a fist sized area on the right side slightly in from and above the hip , where the gallbladder is located. Sometimes it feels like a bag of marbles is stuffed right there, lumpy in other words.
Apple juice is a good thing all by itself, just for general health and for liver / gallbladder health as mentioned in the website. Not necessary for the flush, imo.
If you're going to drink apple juice / cider, make sure it is from a good source and not GMO if possible.
If you do decide to give it a go, take a good look at the whites of your eyes (the sclera) before the flush and the day after. You should see a noticeable change in how white it is after, just from flushing toxins out of your liver.

Both. That is the boiled down recipe based upon experience. I first began doing this in 2004. . . .
You do not do the apple juice/apple cider portion? Thanks for the information.

I have utilized the liver/gallbladder flush a number of times. However, a pint of olive oil and lemon juice each is way too much by twice. 4 ounces of olive oil mixed with 4 ounces freshly squeezed lemon juice is what is called for. First, though, one must, for the 24 hours before, fast from food, drinking whole apple juice throughout that day. There is a component, I forget its name, in apple juice that softens gall stones.
When you drink the olive oil & lemon mixture, do so at night. lay upon your left side, allowing gravity to facilitate the expunging of the stones. This will go on for a few hours! And you will be running to the bathroom frequently. In addition you will be eliminating a greenish bile colored globules of cholesterol rich fat nodules (good thing). You can tell the difference, should you care to so investigate, as the stones will look like bits of gravel and sink to the bottom of the bowl and the cholestrerol globules will float.
Do not plan to do anything requiring attention and lucidity the day following this flush! Seriously. You will be weak and not feeling too well. Schedule a colonic, however, to aid in the fullest release of all eliminated materials.
Also... ask your physician to describe the size of the stone. If it is very large, larger than the opening of the gall bladder's sphincter, you will not be able to pass it by means of the flush and you will end up in excrtiatiing pain! This would be exceedlingly rare, but it is a consideration to be taken note of.
I have been doing gallbladder flushes for nearly 5 years and this is the recipe I use. There are some differences between ours, notibly the amounts of olive oil / juice mixture and I lay on my right side vs the left. The liver and gallbladder are on the right side of your torso. The ingredient in apples your refer to is pectin I believe. There are many reasons an apple a day keeps the doctor away. A diet rich in apples and other fruits high in pectin will keep the cholesteral from gelling into little balls. The core of gallstones is the greenish cholesteral balls you describe. The ones that show up on ultrasounds are encrusted with mineral deposits such as calcium. Most are not coated and will not show up in ultrasounds or CT and other scans. They are formed in the liver and some get trapped in the gallblader and become compressed with other balls eventually becoming too big to pass through the bile duct without help such as a flush. Even if your gallbladder has been removed, your liver will still produce stones that should be flushed from your system in some regular periodic fashion.
Here is the recipe:
You will need 2 days of nothing to do first.
Day 1, Eat lightly in the morning, oatmeal, soft veggies, easily digestible foods. Fast the rest of the day.
At about 7 PM Drink a solution of 1 cup distilled water and 2 to 3 TEASPOONS of Epsom salt (warm the water in the microwave first as the salts disolve better and it makes the solution better tasting, its nasty at best)
Begin squeezing Ruby Red Grapefruits (they taste the best) and collect 2 cups.
At 10 PM, drink a mixture of 1/2 cup grapefruit juice and a 1/4 cup cold pressed extra virgin olive oil every 15 minutes for a total of 4 times.
Go immediately to bed and sleep on your right side.
Day 2, In the morning make a mixture of 2 to 3 TEASPOONS of sea salt with 4 cups of warm distilled water. Drink up. Eat only soft foods and easily digestible veggies the rest of the day. The stones will pass painlessly in your stool. They float, you will see them. By the afternoon coffee and other foods may become palletable. Your energy levels shoud increase as the day progresses. Overall, its a nasty tasting course, but it works. Patty has noticed a marked difference in the degree of whiteness in the sclera or white of the eye and also the clarity of the eyes afterwords. She has done this as well, but she doesn't have any stones. Some of us are just blessed with healthy digestion.
Here's the how and why.
First the epsom salts will help dilate your gall bladder duct, making it easier for larger stones to pass. It also is a laxitive and will get you going similar to clonoscopy prep.
The olive oil (which is naturally chloresteral free) and grapefruit juice stimulate your liver to generate mass quantities of bile which will begin to flush stones from your liver and gallbladder. You lay on your right side as that is the side of your body that has the liver and gall bladder. It is not easy to keep the oil and grapefruit down at first, but as you do more of these it gets better. I started out with the lemon juice as the website suggested and yuch!, the grapefruit juice is sooo much better, I'll spare you the trial and error.
The salt water in the morning is for hydration and to help keep your system moving.
If you indeed have stones, you should do this every 2 months for the first 2 years and after that twice a year or as necesary. If you are in tune with your body, you will recognize the symptons. We always generate stones so this is an ongoing process, albeit an untasty process. Please go to the website sensiblehealth.com and pay attention to section 3. You will see all that I mentioned, with more comprehensive explanations. I have culled it all down to what I wrote above. The lady's herbs are probably guilding the lily, cause this works just fine as I have listed above. Again, my General Practioner and Oncologist know about this and find it an acceptable approach.
I welcome feedback, questions and comments. The website I offer above was my guide that has helped me through my gallbladder problems. There are many variations of this flushing technique, but the one thing they all have in common is EXTRA VIRGIN COLD PRESSED OLIVE OIL, for which there is no substitute.
OBTW: with gradual, not drastic alteration of my regular diet, over the course of 10 years my bad cholesteral count has gone down from 315 to around an average of 180 to 200 which is within the generally acceptable ranges.

interesting. Your recipe varies some from the recipes on that Sensible Health site. Did you modify it based on other research or personal experience?
An update to my liver problems - Just saw the new oncologist and got the results of my latest liver panel blood work and the results of the Chromagranin A cancer enzyme test both from 11/18. A year ago the enzyme was 4. 32.5 is when they start looking for the where the cancer is in someone that hasn't had it before and 16 is when they start looking for it as a reoccurrence if you've had it previously. This time mine was at 2! So its not cancer causing the liver problem. As of 11/18 my AST & ALT enzymes dropped about 30% so whatever it seems to have peaked. I found that the sludge people sometimes get in their gallbladder is usually made of cholesterol crystals. They can cause both liver and pancreas inflammation so they may be the only cause. They took blood again today and might have the results by Wed to see if the numbers are still dropping. In the meantime a few days ago I tried a gallbladder flush that consists of drinking olive oil and freshly squeezed lemon juice which is supposed to help dissolve the sludge. The very next day the pain level was 90% less and now its just a mild discomfort. May be total coincidence that that happened or maybe not. Hopefully the numbers from todays blood work will be way down. Also, this new Doc doesn't agree about the ultrasound diagnosis of fatty liver disease. She doesn't think it can go from normal in April to this in just 6 months as fatty liver usually takes decades. She thinks that because my liver is inflamed the ultrasound is getting a false reading and wants to do another scan after the liver enzymes are back to normal (assuming they come back to normal).
Primo !
I've been doing gall bladder flushes now for 10 years or so. Had an attack and while waiting to get it dealt with, found the flush, did it and saved it from being taken out. All my docs know about it and all approve. While nasty doing them, the benefits are tremendous.
I replaced lemon juice with fresh squeezed Ruby Red grapefruits, the sweeter the better. Gall stones are clolesteral lumps, not crystals, unless they have been in there so long they got calcified. They never show up on an ultrasound unless they are calcified.
You should do them every 3 months for the first two years and then twice a year afterwards. People who have had there gall bladder removed should do them periodically also. The little fatty balls start in the liver and sometimes get stuck in the duct work going down to where the gall bladder used to be.
I'll just post the recipe.
Eat very lightly all day long with soft food or fast if you like. Nothing past lunch.
At 7 pm drink a warm mixture of distilled water with 3 teaspoons of Epsom salt.
Squeeze or juice enough grapefruits for 2 cups of juice. 4 to 5 good sized ones. 1 1/2 cups minimum needed
3 hours later, every 15 minutes drink a mixture of 1/4 cup extra virgin cold pressed olive oil and a half cup juice.
4 times. Go straight to bed and lay on your right side all night.
In the morning drink 2 quarts of warm distilled water and 2 to 3 teaspoons of sea salt.
Do not plan to go anywhere the rest of the day. In the evening start eating some soft food like soup, mashed potatos, crackers and stuff like that. Or sooner if you're up to it.
The next day you should feel pretty good and be mobile again.

Interesting. Reminds me of a lesson from a biology class I had that was taught by a chemist while working on my optical degree back in the early '90's. We got into soaps and pH levels and skin conditions.
He put forth the facts about acne soaps and dandruff shampoos which are alkaline. While they will clear you up, being a base (such as pine tar soap) rather than an acid, the relief is very short lived and creates a dependency on alkalines to maintain the result. Instead he said acids such as lemon juice and vinegar would accomplish the same results without creating a dependency. Albeit, there was a burning effect in the short term, but once past the initial use, it was less intense and the results while not permanent were very much more longer lasting.
I quit using a deodorant after my transplant. My body chemistry was totally altered by it and while under going all the chemo, my skin totally cleared up for the first time in my life. Of course with the passage of time and distance from the chemo, certain skin conditions resurfaced, but not to the extent as before. As noted in the link it turned out that most outbreaks were a manifestation of stress. I found patterns of cause and effect. I recognized that and just dealt with it instead of as in the past using alkaline products which would actually have turned a temporary situation into a longer lasting or perhaps permanent episode until the bullet was bitten and the cycle ended.
Might have to get the book and compare experiences.
Edit: maybe tmi but remember, the skin or epidermis is the largest single organ in the human body. And evidently grossly misunderstood.
To add a bit more ... there are many toxins that can only be purged from your body through your skin, by sweating. Up until Covid I used to hit the steam room about once a week. It always cleared out my sinuses, moisturized my lungs (not good for asthmatics though, the sauna would be a better choice if you have that) and revitalized my skin by sweating out the toxins that build up inside from things like stress as mentioned above.
In the Swedish Death Cleaning book she actually says something to the effect of âyou donât want your children having to go through your sex toys.â Itâs a really entertaining book, as long as you donât have a vivid imagination.
Doesn't that assume people stop using their toys when they get older? Ageism!

. Should I get rid of the 3 or 4 kayak paddles I almost never use or just hang onto them with the 5 I do? Should I not buy the wing paddle I could really use for the next couple of years or make do? So much sorting/deciding.
Want two real boogie boards ? How about a pair of Churchill Duckfeet with the box ?

I have found simplifying my life is a complicated endeavour.
I have had some success at purging stuff, but in most cases there is a residual that I want/need to keep. Should I get rid of the 3 or 4 kayak paddles I almost never use or just hang onto them with the 5 I do? Should I not buy the wing paddle I could really use for the next couple of years or make do? So much sorting/deciding. That's one reason I have too much: My last move, I didn't have time to get rid of some things so I just moved them.
There is crap that I know no one will want but still has meaning for me right now. There is crap that is still useful now but won't be in the future. There is stuff that actually has a monetary or historic value to the poor sods that will have to inherit and deal with it. I expect that much of that will end up with charity but that should be their decision for the really valuable stuff. The real crap I try to get rid of. My parents collected art so I have a bunch of stuff that is not quite museum quality.
Then there is all the financial end of life planning that is very complex, especially if you have assets in multiple countries. I have had bad luck finding financial advice even if I am willing to pay. Most of the advisors seem to want to steer you into managing your money but aren't interested or able to do so across borders so they say "get lost".
Getting old is supposed to be about making things simpler not more complicated. I need something simple, predictable and reliable.

I just looked up the book. Going to have to get a copy. Having a lot of Swedish in me, I must be hard wired to doing it. 65 is when I basically started the process of organizing my music for ripping and selling off with the purpose of downsizing and blowing ballast. That is the biggest mess I have to straighten up before I pass on. There's other things but this one smacks me in the face almost every waking moment.
