Do a lot of Oklahomans live in Wyoming? Or vice versa?
Jennifer Ann Sorenson, Mayor of the Town of Evansville, faces one charge of Misuse of Office, a misdemeanor. Persons found guilty of Misuse of Office may face fines of up to $1,000.
Matt McGraw, Evansville Police Officer, faces one count of Conspiracy to Misuse Office, and two misdemeanor drug charges, alleging illegal possession of Xanax and hydrocodone.
...
Agents with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation said that they began looking into Sorenson and McGraw after a former spouse of Sorenson reported that they suspected McGraw to be using stimulant drugs, saying that McGraw would stay awake for days at a time. The reporting party said that they had found codeine in a safe at a residence that they were moving out of, and where McGraw and Sorensen were reportedly moving in.
1. Just how small is this town?
2. If McGraw was using all those opiods, WTF was he taking to stay awake for days at a time?
3. Are we sure all this isn't from an episode of "The Dukes of Hazzard"?
Yeah the Xanax + Hydrocodone â sleeplessness. I wondered the same thing.
Evansville is 2500 and abuts the larger town of Casper. Of course the biggest towns in the state aren't a blip on most states' radar. As mayor, she makes 1000/month, about the same as our mayor (about 3x more people). He's pretty good at keeping his hours down to a dull roar but it still doesn't amount to minimum wage.
In googling this stuff, she's had the post for 18 months. She was on the city council before that, which probably paid a per-meeting stipend of $100 or so.
Sounds like their recreational activities take up more of their time than their municipal jobs...

This is the sort of low-grade crime spree that amounts to not much, in the big scheme of things, but would have kept on spiraling out of control until some real damage was done.

Square Shooters Eating House - Rawlins, Wyoming "An unusual restaurant for respectable people" Catering to famished travelers, hungry hunters, families, large or small; overworked clerks and Ranch hands, soft hearted salesmen and kindly mechanics; overtaxed business and even that sweet little schoolmarm. This eating house has something for everyone with hospitality for good measure. "No Hard Liquor Sold" Interesting postcard - it appears to be on a slight hill and the photographer must have set up his camera on a tripod level with the street. I wonder if this place still exists. At least they took BankAmericard and Master Charge. Odd Fellows Temple upstairs? *edit: Oh, it's closed down.
This place was the best restaurant in Rawlins (dubious distinction), just right around the corner. Sadly, also closed.
