This is a best wishes thread. I have  best wishes that my government bonds won't crash before I can figure out a safer investment.

It was close to 300 billion by then. How did that projected cost work out? About as well as the one being presented if history is a guide.
Republicans might be wrong and it wouldn't be the first time. But Democrats haven't been right about anything of recent vintage or since they took the reins of power. What if Democrats are wrong on the largest expansion ever of Government? What if? With Medicare going broke, with Social Security going broke, is this the time to launch a new entitlement program that will morph into an entity with a voracious appetite for more and more *and more and more is promised once this door is kicked in. . . more and more and that will come will even less certainty as to how to pay for more and more*

Charlie Cook, one of the more astute observers of US politics recently stated the the buzz he felt leading to the '94 sweep of Republicans into control of Congress was considerably less than the buzz he is picking up on in 2010. The first Tuesday in November should be interesting as Mr. Obama and Democrats in Congress move a program being increasingly rejected by a majority of The People. We should learn a great deal about a Congress and a President willing to circumvent Article 1, Section 7 of The United States Constitution as The House plans to vote without voting on a bill that would then be presented to the President for his signature. Where might The House bill required to be word for word with that of The Senate Bill, be? That is demanded by the language within The Constitution. Do Democrats deem The Constitution to be an impediment to their plans? A roadblock to their considerations of legislation? An inconvenient document they can sidestep as they wish? Isn't deem as passed a tactic Democrats deplored in the past? Much like they deplored reconciliation? If unbridled hypocrisy isn't sufficient to block Democrats, why should The Constitution?
Should be a fun election day...
