Producing the budget is THE most important thing Congress does. No budget, no government.

Belgium Marks Record Political No Man's Land

Protests in Belgium have marked the country's 289th day without a government - tying it with the current world record holder Iraq.

The country's bickering politicians have so far failed to agree on how to form a government since the elections on June 13.

Belgians, at first mildly irritated, then found themselves in celebratory mood as their country broke the European record for length of time without a government last month.

They honoured the occasion with a mass striptease - but hoped politicians would see the serious message behind their action.

=============================================================

I heard that they think they'll have a chance of making it as long as they don't discover oil or as long as they think they can keep the US Military out....

Can we learn something from Belgium?

Just met a guy who works for the govt in Homeland Security. He's in the process of giving a furlough to his employees, and when he's done his boss will furlough him, and then his boss will furlough him...

This all has to happen by midnight, because after that they're not allowed to work.

He says that his team will know whether or not to come back to work based on tomorrow's news.
