Eh. He had the arrogance of the very, very talented. He had one of the quickest wits I've ever seen and a very sharp mind. He was well-read, well-traveled, and he seemed to r emember all of it even when completely besotted, which was pretty often. He was a rare beast nowadays: an honest intellectual. He was willing to tangle with anybody, and damn the consequences. He was even willing to face the scariest thing there is for someone in his position: he was willing to change his mind. 9 reasons to love the guy.

I can understand that. He was trying to bridge his own dissonance, identifying with the working class but actually at home somewhere else entirely.. I guess that made him look false. Maybe in a way he was.
