I'm pretty tired of one Republican cheap-shot artist after the other avoid real questions and reply with scripted responses. Doesn't it occur to them that the reason they are losing power is that the people who elected them no longer considered them to be honest? There has to be some kind of payoff for them to go on an interview show and completely ignore the host's topics. What a scam!

Shi Sheng Hao
, who has given over a quarter million dollars to John McCain's campaign and the RNC. Hao's residence, occupation and current whereabouts are all unknown. But here's what we do know: he declared bankruptcy in 1995, registered to vote after his massive donations began, doesn't live at any of his listed addresses, and eight associates and relatives of Hao have given $130,000 to the RNC since last year.

Curiouser and curiouser. . .

Oh, and the Republicans have been making accusations that Obama's donations — because they are tiny donations from private persons — are scary and illegal because they are very difficult to track.

I watched a bit of Larry King, and he was having a Republican fest.  His guests went on and on about how Obama will "tax and spend like we've never seen before", "spread the wealth",  "take money from those who have worked hard to be successful", "give money to people who don't even pay taxes", etc etc.

The Republicans are driving these lies harder and more loudly.  They're not talking about McCain's plan... because it gives most of us absolutely no relief, and is just a continuation of the current economic policy... so what's to talk about.  So they distort Obama's plan, and repeat the lie over and over until all their supporters believe it and are enraged by it.

I feel tremendous upset with the Republicans for taking us down this path.  I feel as screwed as I did by the whole war thing.  How can they choose to be so destructive to our country?
- Dividing of the country
- Enthusiastic lying has become acceptable
- Inciting boos, anger, fear, hate
- Not denouncing hate comments of their followers
- Not denouncing crazy rumors from fringe groups
- Using a snide mocking tone is acceptable
- Not pronouncing a word like "Nuclear" correctly
- Win at all costs

These are things we teach our kids not to do, and yet we have these leaders of our country behaving like schoolyard bullies.

Where is the honor in any of these things?  John McCain is not at all the man I thought he was.  And the Republican party has lost all hope of dignity.

The current GOP is a house divided into rightist, extremist folks who used to have power and became too strident for the more reasonable party members. Therefore, the party is a non-viable entity. Like a house party where there's a loud group of jerks that you just can't get rid of, the more reasonable people who want to have a normal conversation just need to pick up and go somewhere else.

Viable third party!

I've been a Green for decades, and I know that the Green party probably wouldn't be the place for those ex-Republicans to land (although it might be the place for some), but perhaps something new and more thoughtful than the current Republican party can rise from these ashes. The general philosophy is still a good one, but it's been clothed in too many separate, strident agendas.

Most of the Republican leadership is calling for Ted Stevens to resign before the election so they can name someone to take his place.  I wonder who they will tap from Alaska?  Sarah Palin seems pretty popular and will be available anytime after November 4th!  But is the US Senate too small for two Mavericks?
