Again, a great demonstration of your limited thinking. I know you aren't much for facts or learning stuff, but for anyone interested, Chloe East has a very well done study of the effects of deportations during the Obama admin (so it's recent and relevent). For anyone who can think rationally for a second the findings are pretty obvious. Basically - Jobs and workers aren't fungible. If you get rid of an immigrant worker, a native worker doesn't necessarily step into that job. Immigrants do a lot of jobs that natives won't/can't, so the jobs go unfilled. Immigrants also spend money that they make from their jobs. So if the job goes away due to no other worker, then the overall economy gets smaller from less demand for groceries/haircuts/general stuff that everyone buys.
Immigrants are a net positive for our society. Kicking out immigrants will harm regular citizens as well.
We examine the labor market effects of Secure Communities (SC)âan immigration
enforcement policy which led to over 454,000 deportations between 2008-2014. Using
a difference-in-differences model that takes advantage of the staggered rollout of SC,
we find that SC significantly decreased the employment share of likely undocumented
male immigrants. The policy also led to a decrease in the employment rate of citizens. The employment effects on citizens are concentrated among males working in
medium-skilled occupations, particularly in sectors that traditionally rely on likely undocumented workers. The results are consistent with complementarities in production
between low-skilled immigrants and higher-skilled citizens.
So if you are so broke and it bothers you, you should support more immigrants. But it's not really about the money right? It's all about the hate in your heart. If you would fix that problem, a lot of the rest of your life would be better.
So instead of paying $200 to support immigrants (your share of the $66B in federal spending in 2023)... you decided spending $3,000 per year (or more) on everything you buy was a worthwhile investment?
You keep hopping over the fence on why you voted for insanity....it was money....it's immigration....it was money...no immigration. Well, you go your immigration. All it cost you was a recession and the destruction of your position in the world.
You've been played. Your anger has made you stop thinking. As he notes, Bill Maher has recently been hailed by the Right for calling out woke. It's your turn, and you while you fight it... you're a member of a cult....
What I currently see (as predicted) are heads a'sploding, en masse.
And as expected, you are enjoying it. This means you are an asshole. Do you also dvr and rewatch the sad ASPCA commercials to get an extra dose of someone/thing that is not you suffering? Are you somehow surprised when it does nothing to satisfy the dark hole that is where your heart should be?
Seriously man - go do something selfless this weekend. It might help you.
What's amusing is you're happy to see others concerned, upset, harmed. You're not FOR anything... you just figure I've been screwed so why not let everyone else deal with a bit of pain.
This is a basic tenant of the current right wing ethos. Especially true if the harm is aimed at immigrants/people of color or other groups who can't fight back.

I'm not afraid... I'm sad to live in a country where you had so much opportunity... and because you did nothing with it and feel like others get more from the system, unfairly, you want to screw them. You can't love America and hate Americans. You've been played. Trump has pushed all your buttons and you feel good about him inflicting pain.
What's it like to know you're just an angry old man who squandered so much opportunity?
They generally believe that the world is a zero sum game. If a benefit went anywhere but to them, they feel they have lost. Really it's mostly an example of a lack of accountability and an inability to feel empathy. How could you be happy for someone else if you don't have any concept of how someone else feels?

Yep. Zero personal responsibility or accountability from the 'pull yourselves up by your bootsraps' crowd (who have had one of he biggest hand ups in the history of the world).
Just responding to the posted meme with the actual subject of the meme for all to read, and decide for themselves.
But I will say what I've been thinking and wanting to say for awhile in response to these memes and whatnot ...
it all reminds of this old political saw so to speak:
you get the government you deserve. Payback's a bitch.
Now go look in the mirror.
"you get the government you deserve. Payback's a bitch."
Jesus this is rich coming from you. This Trump administration is going to sh** all over your world and you refuse to see it.
American democracy is disappearing before your very eyes. The richest man in the world controls the US government. He is slashing programs, agencies and federal employment levels to get rid of federal investigations into his businesses and clear the way for a massive tax cut that will benefit the super-rich.
He is cutting and will cut programs that are going to affect your wealth and access to healthcare.
The supposed president of the United States is senile, vengeful and INCOMPETENT. His tariffs are going to make goods and services more expensive for Americans. They're also going to get rid of American jobs because Americans are working with imported materials and goods to make other goods.
The civil rights of Americans are being eroded rapidly. The super-rich control our government and elections.
The GOP got your vote. It doesn't have to do anything for you and it sure won't.
